IDF_Para_Eg_0102For some time I’d had a notion to do some modern Middle-East games.. I’m also a huge fan of Mongrel Miniatures, so when Frank released the IDF paratroopers my order was away faster than a bullet out of a Gilal ARM.

It was even better news when the militia figures came out quite soon after.  I’ve chosen to call the group ”The Righteous Warriors of the Sacred Land”.

Mutt03I’ve got three IDF Mutts, all from Chieftain Models. The kits are 100% white metal so are pretty heavy when assembled.

One Mutt (right) is the command vehicle, another is armed with a heavy machine-gun and third with TOW.

I also bought a M113 from Sloppy, but I didn’t like it - far too awkward to put together. So, it’s now used as a burnt out hulk.

PLO_0102“The Righteous Warriors of the Sacred Land” amount to 32 combatants. I’ve recently added 16 heavily armed militia to their ranks.

In my opinion these are some of the nicest figures Mongrel have done and being militia don’t take too long to paint up.

My favourite figure is the guy in the brown leather bomber jacket. I painted the best pair of “Converse” trainer ever on him.

IDF SampleAs well as IDF paratroopers I now have a couple of squads of Golani Brigade.

These are the latest release from Mongrel and except for a couple of bareheaded figures (including the coolest squad leader figure you’ll see) they are all wearing boonie hats with covered helmets attached to their webbing and all are armed with Gilals.

As usual the medic figures are my favourites.  Overladen with equipment - looks fantastic.
