KBar03I began this project using mainly West Wind Productions 28mm figures. In 2005 I switched to  using miniatures designed by The Assault Group.    I kept some of the West Wind Japanese command figures and the casualties, which integrate surprisingly well. The scope of this project is “large skirmish”. No more than a platoon at a scale of 1:1, roughly speaking about 50 figures per force.  I’ve also included tanks. My rules of choice are K-Bar and Bayonet, by Larry V. Brom.    These are written with infantry v infantry in mind, I like them a lot and have added simple rules for tank and anti-tank action.

IJAMy Japanese are vurtually all from The Assault Group save for the aforementioned West Wind.  Recently I’ve added some Brigade Games and Company B miniatures, specifically artillery and gun crews + plus some Ha-Go tanks.  However I could do with some more rank and file infantry.

Additionally, the Battle Honours mule train looks quite interesting.

US MarinesThe USMC that I have are all from The Assault Group save for a apck of squad/platoon leaders from Brigade Games PACWAR range.

TAG were pretty good in that they gave me quite a few “freebie” figures, e.g. Big John, without me ever buying a special offer from them.

BritishOn the other hand I bought all the deals for the 14th Army and Chindits. The “stubborn mule” giveaway model has to be the best “freebie” of all time. I eventually intend to add Sikhs and Ghurkas to my allied force, but in the meantime it’s a fairly lightly supported platoon e,g no PIATs  (unless TAG decide to make some. Of course, my British force can double as Australian.  In time I plan paint up some of my “spare” Artizan 8th Army for the defence of Singapore.

Chart02Included here is a pictorial section on my platoon organisation for Japanese Infantry and U.S. Marine Corps.

This is specifically with K-Bar and Bayonet in mind. However, I’m keen to try out the Red Sun Rising supplement  for Disposable Heroes, Coffin for Seven Brothers rules.

I reckon the basic rubric will not be too different in any case.
