News Update
wp602cfd7f.jpg Since my last update I’ve been donating my time to building up my Wild West town and painting up figures to populate it with.  I was swithering whether to make the town from scratch, buy cardstock buildings, or go for resin buildings.  In the end I opted for resin and sent off an order to Hovels Ltd for: a saloon; a sheriff’s office / jail, an undertakers, a bank and a general store.  It all arrived within a couple of weeks and took me the weekend to clean; undercoat and paint.  Was pleased with my purchase (came with preprinted signs) and the end result was pretty damned good, even if I say so myself.  Next order is away.  This time I’m going for a Grand Hotel and Wells Fargo Stage Office.  I’ll complete phase one of  my town off with a church and a stable block.  I’ve named it Stinking Springs in honour of the location of the shootout between the Kid and Pat Garrett that led to Billy’s arrest and eventual legendary status.

As for the figures . . .  I’ve had these for a while and getting them completed gave a pleasant inward satisfaction.  I now have more than enough for various posses and also painted up some French Foreign Legion for the Mexican Adventure.  I bought these ages ago.  Just kind of liked them and knew one day they’d come in handy for something.  As for the Mexicans I’ve opted for the Alamo ones from Artizan Design.  Chronologically it’s a bit of mismatch, but who cares.  The sculpts are great and what’s more I contacted Nick at North Star on the off chance he had any limited edition Zorro’s left.  There was one remaining, so it’s in the order with the Mexican Infantry (woo hoo) !!

This week I played a fuller game of Legends of the Old West and have written up a battle report in the new Wild West page.  All in all it been quite busy down Occidental way.

Other than that I’ve been pondering about building some modern-ish urban terrain for my gangsters and future war stuff and  a Mexican village as an alternative setting for wild west games..

Finally, I noticed my favourite wargaming enthusiast Neil Schuck continues to develop Meeples and Miniatures.  He’s now into vidcasts.  Neil reviews his top ten favourite releases each month and talks you through them.  Some debate started on TMP about the merits of these reviews, with the usual hilarious retorts from the great man.  What a bloke !!  Keep going big fella - I’m rooting for you.
